A virgin olive grove which has been abandoned for a lot of years and which, due to the dense vegetation, is devoid of sunlight and can actually be described as dark –‘Fosc’ in Catalan–. Fosc Oil, produced 100% from the local Argudell variety of olives in the area of Empordà, is a pure extra virgin olive oil in which the essence of the olive grove itself has been preserved. The packaging simply puts across the very origins of this oil. Darkness is reflected by dark bottles and inks.
In Senyor Estudi we are asked to describe ourselves briefly. Such request makes us think what we want to transmit and we start thinking about what to say. We consider that saying «we are a multidisciplinary studio» is boring and too typical and so we decide that we are not going to say that. To begin with, we think it is not very appropriate to write about our qualities, as praising ourselves has got some risks that we don’t want to run. However, as we are not in favour of false modesty, we agree that we will just talk about some of our strengths in a subtle way. For instance, we believe in our work and we are ingenious and decisive. We also consider that we have to mention our goals and how we work. So, after thinking about this we decide to say that we are very perfectionists and that we are not in favour of the senseless superficial design. And speaking of strengths, we will also say that we like to surprise and we are very neat. Well, maybe the last thing is a bit pretentious and we shouldn’t say it... Ah, and perhaps it would also be a good idea to say that we love being part of the projects we design and, for us, design is not only a proposal or a resource, but a way to understand the world. But, of course, if we wrote this people would think we are romantic and corny, so maybe it is better to end this description saying that our design is, at least, different and unpredictable. design.
